Connecting data is just the beginning.

The advantage shows when shared data becomes part of a useful journey: with quality, policy, offer and tracking.

The market signal has a time window

The volume published by the Central Bank of Brazil shows the use of shared data in credit operations. It doesn't measure the return of any specific platform, nor does it allow all lending to be attributed exclusively to Open Finance.

For those building products, the challenge is turning authorized access into an understandable experience. Asking for data sharing without explaining what job it helps get done adds a step to the journey without making its benefit clear.

02

Start with the decision that needs context

One possible journey is reviewing a working capital proposal. The institution defines which information is relevant, how to assess its quality, and how to handle incomplete periods. The customer understands the purpose of the data sharing and tracks the status of the request.

Connecting all available data before choosing the question tends to increase complexity. Scoping should start from the business decision: what the additional information can clarify and what action is possible after the analysis. Technical availability is not the same as relevance.

03

Consent is journey state

The Central Bank of Brazil states that customers can revoke their data-sharing authorization at any time. The product must handle this change, as well as query failures, without pretending the flow continues under the same conditions.

The operational design also needs to distinguish what happened before the revocation from which new access is no longer possible. Processing and retention of data already received require a specific assessment. The interface should offer clear next steps, such as continuing with permitted information or asking the customer for another action.

04

The offer takes more than a connector

Between inquiry and contracting come data normalization, policy, calculation, pricing, formalization and monitoring. A useful composition makes these steps observable and lets you evolve one of them without hiding its effects on the others.

Results should be measured across the full journey: how many requests reach the expected outcome, where customers drop off and which data creates pending items. Approval, pricing and risk remain the institution's responsibility; more data does not guarantee better terms in every case.

Journey states

Data only helps when its state is known.

03Assessment

Authorization and data meet the defined scope. The application moves on to policy evaluation, with no guarantee of approval.

One possible application

Working capital with shared context

Proposed composition: a company authorizes data sharing; the journey checks whether the data is sufficient; the policy guides analysis and pending items; the calculation prepares terms; the customer receives an offer or an understandable next step. Ecosystem participation and integrations need to be validated.

Three questions
before building.

  1. What concrete benefit justifies asking for data sharing?
  2. What happens if a source fails or the authorization changes?
  3. Does the team measure connections made, or journeys that reached an outcome?
The relationship with Catalisa

From reading
to composition.

The composable approach connects data, decisioning, calculation and documents. The potential lies in end-to-end design; API access, participation, contracts and integration availability must be confirmed for each project.
